​​Der Ausstellungsraum Peripherie 8 ist seit 20.09.2025 geschlossen.

​​Wir wünschen viel Spass beim Durchstöbern unserer vergangenen Ausstellungen/Events. ​​​
​Das PERIPHERIE 8 feiert 5 Jahre Jubiläum.
Schweren Herzens mussten wir das Projekt in dieser Form schliessen. Wir können keinen Open Call mehr ausschreiben, da uns trotz grossen Bemühungen leider keine finanziellen Mittel für eine Programmförderung zur Verfügung stehen.

​Am 19.06.2021 eröffneten wir den Ausstellungsraum.
Nach 19 Ausstellungen mit etwa 40 beteiligten Künstler*innen schliessen wir den Ausstellungsraum Off-space PERIPHERIE 8, das Kunstzimmer.​​​
​
Wir werden oft gefragt, ob und wie es mit Peripherie 8 weitergeht.
Das freut uns sehr, und wir bedanken uns ganz 🩷-lich für eure Unterstützung.
Schritt für Schritt werden wir nach neuen Formen suchen, die mit unseren Ressourcen übereinstimmen.

​The Peripherie 8 exhibition space has been closed since 20 September 2025.

This is currently the archive of our art room, and the website will continue to exist.
We hope you enjoy browsing through our past exhibitions/events. ​​​​
PERIPHERIE 8 turns 5.
It was with a heavy heart that we had to close the project in its current form.
We are no longer able to issue open calls for submissions, as despite our best efforts, we unfortunately do not have the financial resources available to fund the program.
​​
We opened the exhibition space on June 19, 2021.
After 19 exhibitions with around 40 participating artists, we close the exhibition space Off-space PERIPHERIE 8, the Kunstzimmer.​​
​
We are often asked whether and how Peripherie 8 will continue.
We are very pleased about this and would like to thank you very much for your support. Step by step, we will search for new forms that are in line with our resources.

​Experimentell, poetisch, performativ, ein Mansardenzimmer wird zum Kunst und Kulturzimmer.
​PERIPHERIE 8 ist im Dachgeschoss eines Wohnhauses am Stadtrand von Basel gelegen und ein unabhängiger Offspace. Das Zimmer ist offen für künstlerische, musikalische, performative und poetische Experimente. Das PERIPHERIE 8 ist ein Ort für die Zusammenarbeit, den gemeinsamen Austausch und die Vermittlung von aktuellen Kunst- und Kulturströmungen. Im Fokus steht dabei die Vielfalt und die Teilhabe von Kultur. Wir möchten gerne Zusammen kreieren.

PERIPHERIE 8 ist eine Kollektiv geführte Plattform und wurde im Juni 2021 von der Hauptorganisatorin Thea Geneva initiiert.

Seit 20.09.2025 ist der Raum geschlossen und wir haben unser Projekt nach 5 Jahren mit einer Farewell Party im Rahmen der Ausstellung "AFTERCARE" von Sara Grütter verabschiedet, wegen der aktuellen kulturpolitischen Situation. (Neues Kulturleitbild 2026-2031) https://www.bzbasel.ch/kultur/basel/basel-visarte-kritisiert-kulturleitbild-ld.4103306 lässt der freien Szene nicht viel Spielraum.
​Wir sind dabei ein anderes Konzept zu entwickeln das uns unabhängiger von Förderstrukturen macht und möchten auch unser Team erweitern. Thea macht gerade eine Weiterbildung in diesem Feld und kann den Raum nicht in dem Umfang betreuen wie sie es die letzten 5 Jahre gemacht hat. Die Weiterbildung geht wahrscheinlich 2 Jahre.
​
Wir freuen uns daher immer über neue engagierte ehrenamtliche Initiativen und selbstorganisierte Projekte.
Gerne kann mit uns unverbindlich Kontakt aufgenommen werden und wir laden euch dann gerne zu einem Kaffee und/oder Tee ein. ​​
Thea wird weiterhin die Ansprechperson bleiben. Wir können euch auch gerne Beraten und/oder unseren Raum zur Verfügung stellen, falls ihr selber gern ein Projekt initiieren möchtet.

​​Experimental, poetic, performative, an attic room becomes an art and culture room.
PERIPHERIE 8 is located in the attic of a residential building on the outskirts of Basel and is an independent off-space. The room is open for artistic, musical, performative and poetic experiments. PERIPHERIE 8 is a place for collaboration, mutual exchange and the communication of current art and cultural trends. The focus is on the diversity of different media and cultural participation. We would like to create together.

PERIPHERIE 8 is a collectively run platform that was initiated in June 2021 by its main organiser, Thea Geneva.

We are currently taking a break. The space has been closed since 20 September 2025 due to the current cultural policy situation. (New Cultural Mission Statement 2026-2031 only in German) https://www.bzbasel.ch/kultur/basel/basel-visarte-kritisiert-kulturleitbild-ld.4103306 not leave much room for the independent scene.
​
​We have developed a different concept in which we are more independent of funding structures and would also like to expand our team. Thea is currently undergoing further training in this field and is unable to manage the space to the same extent as she has done for the last 5 years. The further training will probably take 2 years.
​
We are therefore always happy to welcome new, committed volunteers and self-organised projects that are self-sustaining and in line with our concept.
Feel free to contact us without obligation and we will be happy to invite you for a cup of coffee and/or tea.
